Station Manager

Helen is 6EBA's Station Manager and works both in the North Perth head office and the Maylands Youth Annexe.

Excellent business and organisational skills coupled with 18 years volunteering in the community broadcasting sector together with an uncanny ability to think beyond the achievable have, over the period since Helen commenced at the station enabled 6EBA to grow and expand to what is now a happy and productive community radio station.

During the last couple of years the station has seen a total organisational revamp.  Community Radio stations don't make profits especially if they deliver maximum services to the community they serve.  To break even is difficult at the best of times, but together with the support and backing of the Management Committee the station has been able to better serve its listenership and expand at the same time.  We have embraced technology and together with our Station Engineer and IT Consultant have put automated systems in place to reduce many of the manual tasks of the past.

Just some of these improvements include the installation of a fully comprehensive Security Surveillance and Access Door Card system.  6EBA now has two fully operational and modern on-air broadcast studios, and a brand new production studio which can also be utilised as an on air studio. We have created a fully equipped listening booth (no microphones) for our broadcasters to prepare their program. A There is a brand new CD Writer enabling producers to record their program on the fly.

Helen's open door policy has fostered a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere throughout the station.  Helen's office is located towards the rear of the building, and this is where you will find her most times of the day and night.  Like all Station Managers this is her corner of the world where she can get her head around things.

This website project has been Helen's after hours project, and  we are  very happy to see it go live to the world, after some four years in the cooking pot.

Helen can be contacted at the Station most times by phoning 08 9227 5958 or by email
