The Thai Community Radio Association of Western Australia is an incorporated body and was Established over 10 years ago. We started out in 1986 with 30 minutes broadcasting program at Curtin University 6NR radio.
Some years later more people were involved in the program and the broadcasting was extended to 1 hour every Tuesday 6 - 7pm.
In early 1990 the Thai Community Radio Association of WA was registered as an Incorporate body. The volunteer team members have been changing from time to time. At present the team consists of both young and old volunteers.
Our team members come from different backgrounds such as engineering, education, research, hospitality and students. We believe we are a good mix of individuals who are able to serve the Thai community well.

| Suthep Wondurack (Tik), is one of the original broadcasters from 1980 at 6NR Curtin University, and was actively involved in the program for one year. After being absent due to full time employment, he returned to broadcasting two years ago, when his daughter left for Thailand. | |
![]() | Geoff Law joined Thai radio two years ago as a console operator. Geoff loves listening to Thai songs and music. He finds it not only enjoyable, but beneficial for him to be part of the team as he can improve his knowledge of the Thai language and culture. |
Geoff Law from the group writes:
There's quite a large Thai community in Perth and many of them have been here for a number of years, so they all know each other very well and resemble a big extended family.
My name is Geoff Law, an Aussie who has many Thai friends, and I am amazed at how proud of their culture they are, how they love being Thai, and how enthusiastically they welcome anybody who shows a genuine interest in anything Thai.
Every Thai person is unquestionably one with his or her culture, the food, the language, the music, the religion. Without communication with other Thais I'm sure they would be feeling very much like a fish out of water, and that's where 6EBA comes in.
From young students to great grandparents, the Thai radio program has a dedicated bunch of listeners who tune in every Tuesday night to hear the latest Thai news and the music.
Another important meeting place is the Buddhist temple. There are two main centres, the forest monastery at Serpentine and the city center at Nollamara.
New "Aussie Thais" find out about our Thai radio while chatting at the temple, and of course, news of what's going on at the temples is usually broadcast on Thai radio.
A very healthy grapevine.
