6EBA Indigenous Presenter wins NAIDOC Award !

Whadjuk Radio presenter/producer Ethel Wallam was awarded a 2007 NAIDOC Perth award in the Youth category for her work with the program.


Ms Wallam (29) said she was excited to receive the award for doing something she was so passionate about.

“I enjoy keeping indigenous people informed about special events and just getting their music played and letting the non-indigenous people know about it” she said.

MS Wallam said that raising her children – Rondelle (9), Jaeleigh (8) and Kenzi (5) – was also rewarding, and with the help of her family she is able to juggle the diiferent roles.

In the NAIDOC award winner’s summary Ms Wallam was praised as an “inspirational role model and leader within the Perth community”.

Past presenters like Kylie Farmer, Ethel Wallam and Karla Hart have moved on with their careers and are now highly successful in each of their fields. Whadjuk Radio and 6EBA is proud to have played a small part in their success.

AGM 2009 elects New Management Council

The Multicultural Radio & Television Association of WA Inc. held its Annual General Meeting this year on the 18th October 2009. The venue was the Floreat Athena Soccer Club where over 100 members, their guests and friends attended the meeting, followed by a luncheon prepared by the Club's chef Mr. Peter Kalogeracos allowing members to socialize, relax and catch up.
