With every new year come some changes, some good, other not so good. Well this year 6EBA sees some changes too. Sadly we are losing Olivia Holmes who has been with us for 15 months now having completed some pretty fantastic projects for the station. Taking Olivia's place is Kosta Kalantzis as an ECU Sports Medicine graduate promises to bring some exciting new projects to the young people in Maylands and surrounding schools. Welcome aboard Kosta !
Senior Project Officer, Olivia Holmes has resigned from her position at 6EBA, to pursue her original background in the arts. It has been a busy year with Olivia running many projects and initiatives at the station such as Harmony Week, Youth Week, The launch of the Whadjuk Radio program and indigenous training workshops (Yahning Mia), the formation of the Building Bridges program, involvement in outside broadcasts for NAIDOC week and other events, as well as recognition of the good work through the National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters Council’s Best New Talent award for Whadjuk Radio, The 2007 Community Service Industry Award for Whadjuk Radio and the Community Broadcast Association of Australia, most innovative new segment for Olivia’s program ImaginArt.
Kosta Kalantzis will be taking over at the Maylands facility to run projects for 6EBA. His first challenge will be managing the Department of Local Government and Regional Development, Active Ageing grant that was awarded earlier on in December. The project will be concentrating on involving more cross-generational projects at the station, including live outside broadcasts for The Seniors Hour, a singing group, a My History segment, featuring the stories of many local identities and a dream time stories segment for Whadjuk Radio. This project will be complemented by a range of actives that will run parallel to Harmony Week and Youth Week, along with several exciting new developments for the station.
